What is Options Residential?
We are a rehabilitative residential program that assists people to gain skills to reduce their need for services and live more independently.
A company dedicated to providing hope to the individuals we work with. In doing this we support them in achieving their dreams.
Mission & Vision Statement
Options Residential, Inc. is dedicated to providing a healthy environment and empowering individuals who have a diagnosis of Brain Injury, Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Problems through a Rehabilitative Team Approach for Individual Recovery.
Options Residential, Inc. was developed in 2005 due to the high need in the Minneapolis / St. Paul Metropolitan area to rehabilitate and provide a structured environment for those who have a diagnosis of Brain Injury, Mental Illness and/or Substance Abuse Problems. Since 2005 we have grown significantly in our mission of developing different levels of housing to accommodate each individual’s needs rather than the individual having to accommodate for the level of housing they enter.
We have developed a different and unique perspective to residential care. We believe that every individual can reach their goals of independence, some with limited supports. Our specialty is developing the pathway from where the individual currently is to where they want to be and with celebration! Each graduation represents another person who has gained skills is able to move forward into the community towards their goals.
The mission of our program is to meet each individual where they are, recognizing their current needs and goals. From there we set out on the path of rehabilitation working with the individual, family, and their treatment team. This path is different for each individual with differing timelines. The ultimate goal is to work with each individual to become as independent as they can be. This may be managing their mental health, recognizing triggers and the need for continued recovery.
What sets us apart from other residential organizations?
When we say that Options Residential is a rehabilitative residential program, we mean it. On average we help 25 people per year transition to a lower level of support through our process. In order to accomplish these transitions, Options Residential, Inc. has been a trendsetter in the creation of new and innovative ways to meet people where they are by providing the assessed level of service needed to help them achieve their goals. Since 2005 we have grown significantly by creating different types of housing levels.
Options Residential, Inc. started with highly structured homes typically having four individuals living in a congregate type setting. But as individuals progressed, we found that there was often no next step, and people were not ready to be on their own but no longer needed such a highly staffed environment. We then began to develop our system, which gave individuals an opportunity to experience different staffing patterns (not always awake or 2-3 staff to 4 individuals) and housing varieties (including apartment style settings shared with one other person). In 2011 we created a series of single occupancy apartments where individuals could coordinate with different services like Independent Living Skills, ARMHS (Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services), In-Home Therapy, nursing, and other community providers.
The mission of our program is to meet individuals “where they are at” and to help define what rehabilitation means to them. We use a person centered approach that helps define what is important to the individual as well as what may be important for the individual. As we work to develop plans with the individual we look at things that have been tried before and either worked or did not and try to figure out why. We also brainstorm to determine what has not been tried. The bottom line is; we believe that people get better and enjoy life more when they are included as an active partner in their rehabilitation process. It is from here that we can develop plans with the individual, their family, and their professional team. Each path looks different and has different timelines.
Who are our clients?
The individuals we serve may come from all walks of life and from any county in Minnesota. A person seeking to utilize our services needs to qualify for Medical Assistance and be on a CADI, BI, DD, or CAC waiver.
Most of our working experience has been with adults with Brain Injuries, Mental Health symptoms, and co-occurring Substance Abuse issues. We work with individuals who are viewed as difficult to support either due to their diagnosis or because of the behaviors that can present themselves. We also work with individuals who need less of the intensive behavioral components yet still need help with skill building.
What cities/counties/areas do we serve?
